Nice report Jim. A few minor corrections though...first lionfish was reported in 1985 off Dania Beach, FL (the 2009 report was the first in the FL Keys). Densities of lionfish have been reported as high as 1,000 lionfish per hectare (About 2 1/2 acres). Lionfish are not poisonous, but they do possess venemous spines. Sting symptoms CAN include those you listed but do not always. (Symptoms vary depending on the sting and the individual).

Thanks for helping to get the word out.

All the best,

Seeing pics of the Santa Fe River green with bacteria and contaminants made me feel more than just sad and sick to my stomach...I believe "Mother Nature" is giving us perhaps a final wake-up call, and we had better listen and respond to it. We must protect our underground aquifer by halting the dumping of excess nitrates and other pollutants immediately. Our springs are telling us, loud and clear, that we are making the earth sick.
Water is not an option; it is, literally, our life-blood.
